Challis, Idaho Heulandites

I am pleased to offer a fine selection of North America's finest heulandites, from the Rat's Nest Claims, Near Challis, Custer County, Idaho. At Denver, I shared my show room with friend John Cornish, who mined these specimens this past Spring (2003). As he was in my room setting up with me, I had the honor of seeing the lot first and getting my pick of more than 20 pieces!  These super-lustrous, gemmy crystals are a feast for the eyes and represent a warm, appealing color hue rarely seen in U.S.-classic locality collections! This is also a locality absent in most world-wide collections.

Heulandite Cabinet Specimen #18-

A 10x7x6cm cabinet specimen, with a bit deeper, better color to the more blocky pink heulandites.  The larger crystals on this piece form as attractive bow-tie fans ranging from 1-2.5cm long and up to 1cm thick!  All are wonderfully spread out on a carpet of snow-white mordenite. WOW!  $150 Order Here

Heulandite Smcab Specimen #16-

A very unusual 8x7x5cm small cabinet specimen displaying 1-2cm long, 2-4mm thick, richly colored peach-pink heulandite associated with a moderately-etched calcite crystal group (Very uncommon!).  This piece was the best calcite association specimen John had, with the best color to the heulandites. As a note- many of the heulandite crystals are pointing straight into the camera lens, so I couldn't get any good reflections off of them. You will have to take my word that these are perfect crystals in an attractive, freestanding cluster.  $90     Order Here

Idaho Heulandite Smcab Specimen #15-

A beautiful and contrasting 9.5x6.0x4.0cm small cabinet specimen. Artistic pieces like this, where isolated heulandites are well scattered across snow-white mordenite represented only a few percent of the volume of the total mined recovery this past Spring, 2003 (most of the recovered specimens had heulandite crystals covering much of the white mordenite).  These crystals are 1-2cm long, 2-5mm thick, lustrous and gemmy, with a bit lighter, more pastel peach-pink color.  $80

Idaho Heulandite Smcab Specimen #12-

One of my most articulate small cabinet specimens of heulandite, measuring 8x7x5cm. This shallow vug is high-lighted by 2 superb, well-colored, opposing heulandite blades over 2cm each in length (one is also doubly-terminated!), all on super-contrasting snow-white mordenite! The heulandite crystal near the bottom edge of the piece is extra-deep in color.  $70
