Pyrite with Chalcopyrite and Quartz
Lone Tree Mine, Humboldt County, Nevada

Welcome to my Lone Tree Mine Pyrites page!  The specimens
listed here are very rare examples of large, high-quality Pyrite crystals from this mine.  As with most Pyrite from Carlin-Type deposits in Nevada, these cubes contain about 3% Arsenic, which give the crystals a curved, hoppered or even twisted form.  These came from a single find of about a flat of material, late last year.  Anyone who knows the Lone Tree mine, knows that the Pyrites from this famous Gold mine do not normally get to be anything more than druses or crusts.  So, these extra-fine examples came as a great surprise to me!  Not including the additional Quartz and Chalcopyrite associations, they represent some of the BEST Pyrite I have ever seen from Nevada!  Every available specimen that I have is posted here-

A cool cluster of Quartz crystals and Pyrite cubes measuring 5.0 x 3.5 x 3.0cm.  The piece shows nice, terminated Quartz crystals to 1cm and sharp, lustrous Pyrite cubes to 1.5cm. There is also a bit of Chalcopyrite.  There is very little contacting anywhere on the piece.  A nice specimen for a cabinet!    Order Here

A difficult-to-photo, 3.5 x 3.3 x 3.1cm specimen with a beautiful,
3.0 x 2.8 x 1.2cm, deeply hoppered and twisted Pyrite cube, stitting up
on a 3 x 2cm piece of Quartz-drused matrix.  There are lots of
Chalcopyrites to 3mm on this undamaged and lustrous specimen.

Pyrite with Chalcopyrite and Quartz  #10 , $100     *NEW*
A 4.5 x 4.0 x 3.7cm miniature specimen showing a very well-perched,
3.5 x 3.5 x 2.5cm lustrous Pyrite cube with octahedral modifications.  This Pyrite is growing on a 2cm piece of matrix, covered with 2mm drusy Quartz crystals, and Chalcopyrites to 5mm.  The Pyrite cube would basically be a floater, without the matrix.  This is a really nice piece!  Order Here

Pyrite with Siderite and Marcasite #11 , $150     *NEW*
A 6.5 x 3.8 x 3.3cm miniature specimen showing aesthetically stacked Pyrite cubes.  The largest of these Pyrites is right at the top, measuring 3.9 x 3.3 x 1.7cm!  The top-right corner of this cube shows some rounding where a contact once was, that was lightly healed by later crystallization. The very lustrous Pyrites also show nice scallops on the faces.  
On the back is siderite and minor Marcasite crystals.

Pyrite with Chalcopyrite and Quartz #12  $200  *SOLD*

A very attractive and 3-dimensional miniature specimen measuring 5.8 x 4.3 x 4.0cm, consisting of a 3.7 x 2.5 x 2.2cm sharp edged Pyrite crystal sitting on top of a 3cm piece of Quartz-drused matrix, with Quartz crystals averaging 5 to 7mm and some over 1cm!  There are also many iridescent Chalcopyrite to 6mm.  The Pyrite crystal hangs out from the matrix all the way around!   There are also a few bits of Siderite.  The back side of the Pyrite shows a small, lightly healed conchoidal contact.  This is a great cabinet piece and an AWESOME Nevada Pyrite!
